Although I am working alone in a group, I'm still enlisting the help of a few friends outside of college to help me with my production. So before we could get started on making a horror film, we sat around and fired ideas at each other to see what we could come up with. This resulted in a few suggestions of varying content and quality.
Film Noir Zombies - This idea consisted of a lone stranger (key to noir) wandering the desolate post-apocalyptic streets, only to discover it has in fact been overrun with zombies. This idea was the favourite, although we decided it would be difficult to pull off effectively.
Spin Cycle - This one consisted of a shot of a washing machine slowly being zoomed into, interspersed with graphic murders every few second. I'm not quite sure what we were thinking either...
Lights, Camera, Murder! - This opening consists of an "villain" (who isn't fully visible at the start) preparing and sharpening an array of torture weapons and devices. It is then revealed that has has taken hostage a child on their way back from school. The hostage is tied and gagged, and can be seen screaming in agony in the background. Whilst this is happening, the villain is talking to a camera set up, explaining to the child's parent what has happened, and that his fate is in his hands.
But the idea we decided to go with was "The Reckoning" (A working title, we decided to temporarily name it the most cliché horror sounding name possible. This is a possession horror film, which begins with the protagonist waking up and discovering that all is not well...
